Issue Five of Spray Paint Magazine is a digital magazine with 141 pages containing 26 artists, which includes Shamik Banerjee, Irina Tall Novikova, Allison Fradkin, Sheridan Turton, Jordan Andrew, Elisa Ang, Kenna McHugh, Glen Armstrong, A. M. Linton, Barry M. Putt Jr., Niles Reddick, Steve Gold, Usha Gunatilake, Stephanie Buckley, Kanwalpreet Baidwan, Casey Shelley, Stephen Wallkiewicz, Binod Dawadi, Robin Ellen Brooks, Aneezah Johnson, Erika Lynet Salvador, Cathy LaForge Tonkin, R. A. L, Cassidy Guimares, Claire Stewart, and Jaline Wellington.
This issue has been made possible by our contributors and the Spray Paint Magazine team, who are Catherine Mwitta (design editor), Jessie Nguyen (illustrator), and Angel-Clare Linton (founder & managing editor).
General Submission Guidelines
For all submissions, please send them to spraypaintmagazine@gmail.com with the subject heading being [Artist’s Name], [Category]’s Submission. For example, “Spray Paint Magazine, Poetry Submission.” For multiple submissions, please have it in individual Word documents in the same email. In the email, the submitter must include a bio of no more than 100 words, and it must be how they would like to see it in the magazine. In addition, the submitter must include their name or pseudonym with their work.
Spray Paint Magazine does not accept simultaneous submissions. If someplace else is considering your piece(s), we will not consider it.
All submissions must be in 12-point font.
Submissions must also be formatted how you would like to see them in the magazine.
Finally, submissions that do not follow the guidelines will not be considered.
We pay $5 per poem, $10 per prose, $10 per script, and $5 per visual art piece.
All payments will be made in Canadian dollars to your PayPal (personal) account.
Spray Paint Magazine purchases First North American Serial Rights. However, the copyright reverts to the artist after publication. Nevertheless, subsequent publications in collections, anthologies, etc., must acknowledge its first appearance in Spray Paint Magazine.
Poetry
Spray Paint Magazine accepts unpublished works in English and French, including translations into English or French. We’re looking for poetry on any topic and genre. We also consider prose poetry to be in this category.
- Submissions must not exceed a total of four (4) poems or a total of 1,500 words.
- Each poetry piece must be in individual Word documents, and the document itself must be titled “Author’s name, Title of Work.” For example, “Spray Paint Magazine, Hope Is Not Lost.”
- When submitting a concrete/visual poem, please also include a PDF document of each poem.
Prose
Spray Paint Magazine accepts unpublished works in English and French, including translations into English or French. We’re looking for any prose piece in any genre.
- Please submit only one (1) prose piece that does not exceed 2,000 words.
- The prose piece must be in a Word document, and the document itself must be titled “Author’s name, Title of Work.” For example, “Spray Paint Magazine, Hope Is Not Lost.”
Scripts
Spray Paint Magazine accepts unpublished works in English and French, including translations into English or French. We’re looking for any scripts (screenplays and stageplays) in any genre.
- Please only submit one (1) script (screenplays or stageplays) not exceeding 20 pages.
- Must send it as a Word Document, and the document itself must be titled “Author’s name, Title of Work.” For example, “Spray Paint Magazine, Hope Is Not Lost.”
Visual Art
Spray Paint Magazine accepts unpublished visual arts including, but not limited to, painting, photography, drawing, comic, sculptural and ceramic, and mixed media. We’re looking for any visual art piece in any genre.
- When submitting comics, please do not exceed ten (10) pages.
- The images must be high quality.
- Each visual art piece must be in individual image documents (e.g., JPEG, PNG), and the document itself must be titled “Author’s name, Title of Work.” For example, “Spray Paint Magazine, Hope Is Not Lost.”
- Submissions must not exceed a total of six (6) art pieces.
The Spray Paint Magazine team does not necessarily share the views and opinions expressed in this magazine.
